May 6, 2016: And That’s A Main Unit Wrap On Dark Matter Season 2!

That’s it!  Today marked the end of main unit photography on Dark Matter’s second season.  We have one more day of second unit to complete Monday, May 9th but for all intents and purposes, heavy lifting has been completed.  Above: Executive Producer and Prodigy Pictures President Jay Firestone tail slates the season.

1st AD Brandon Tataryn came in wearing a suit this morning – but costume designer Noreen Landry thought it too ill-fitting and redressed him with a little something from the wardrobe department.  Note the pocket handkerchief.

  1. Congratulations to all of you hard working, talented folks! Thank you for the season to come. <3

  2. Good work all you talented folks!

Is it true that Shaun Sipros joins DM Season 2? Did I miss this announcement?

  3. Holy suit day & sushi, Batman, you had a jam-packed day! First of all, great pics of cast and crew! I was wondering what your last meal would be – only fitting that it was sushi with champagne and a whiskey chaser! Love the row of fallen soldiers whiskey bottles. Everyone looked so classy in their suits – I would have thought that the last day of main unit shooting would be “come in your pajamas” day.

Congratulations to all for what I know is a fast paced crazy planning, designing, & shooting schedule. You did it!

Still giddy with anticipation for Season 2 Episode 1 otherwise known as Episode 214: Welcome To Your New Home.

  4. Congrats to everyone on the completion of main unit shooting 👍
    I like Jay Firestome’s T-shirt! #DMMerchandise

    The whisky club….who tried the #Penderyn? 😊

  5. I raise my glass to you guys! Congrats on main unit completion and good luck in post production!
Can’t wait to see the results of everyone’s hard work. It’s sooo exciting. Thanks Joe for keeping us involved! Just for the record, the more I’ve found out about this new season, the less I know what’s going to happen to to our heroes…. How DO you do that?!
    Season 2 can’t come soon enough…..

  6. @Joe; Almost done, eh. Glad to see you and Akemi will finally get to go home soon to get some much needed rest before it all kicks up into full gear again for season 3 and hope you’ll let us know what you decide to do about housing. Proud, Happy, BIG, Hugs n Kisses from moi on keeping it together and a job well done. XO <3 XO Cant wait to see the finished product on screen!

I spent the day yesterday covering resources & updates for the Fort Mac fire. Trying not to be but, I'm worried about Patricia. She lives just a bit downwind of there and I think she was, unfortunately, forced to evacuate. Jeff T has a friend who just lost his home to the awful blaze, as well. The smoke from that fire was so bad it even blanked our sky in smog here in Florida, throughout the whole state, well into the evening hours.

That the need is so overwhelming this time,
If anyone would like to make a donation to help, am sure Red Cross and the residents who have now lost everything will much appreciate any size assist.

    Donations should go to @RedCrossAB.

@JeffW; Hope you get home safe and get some rest this weekend. I bet you're exhausted by now with all the meetings and flying!
Color me a Napali gal on the pizza. Ive always been a northern italian eater. Albeit, that Anti Pasti from Catelletto definitely looked pretty tasty.

@PBMOM, Hilda; So sorry to hear about your MIL and the awful flood damage you are having to deal with. Hope your mothers day at least proves somewhat relaxing & restful. Sending gentlest hugs n quiet peaceful thoughts your way.

  7. We never seem to see much of Marc Bendavid in the photos or at conventions I know a few people I chat with about the show are concerned he may be leaving – hope not.

  8. The Raza crew sure look like they clean up well! Everyone looks especially snazzy, except for you Joe. You always look snazzy! 🙂 I’m trying to think of who else does the pocket handkerchief thing, but I can’t quite remember. 😉

Congratulations to everyone on what I’m sure will be another great season! I can’t wait to see it – and not that much longer either! I can’t believe how fast time goes by. It really doesn’t seem like any time ago at all that you were talking about the problems trying to even get the show off the ground and all the “almost there” times.

What’s interesting is that unlike last year, I really don’t have any question that there will be a S3. I’ve had so many people ask me about when it’s starting again, and how production is going and so on. I always tell them they can follow the blog or the show on Twitter, but it’s easier just to ask me, I guess.

  9. Oh my that went so fast. I feel like we just started this season’s journey with you, and now we are at the end. But the good thing is that means we’re closer to getting to see the episodes air. Yay!

  10. Hi Joe
Wait, there’s post production before it gets put to bed. 🙂 My bad.

  11. Over a week late, but:

@Drea Thank you for the good thoughts about my wrist. It’s still sore. Can’t mow the lawn, or do much in the way of housecleaning. It’s been nice having almost 2 weeks off, but I’m going back to work on Monday. Very physical, use your hands all the time, kind of work. Considering I can’t even hold my phone for more than a couple of minutes or turn a doorknob… Wish me luck?

My problems are pretty minor compared to what some of you are going through. I hope everyone is healthy and happy and that your Important People achieve the same. Get/stay well, everybody!

  12. Phil’s hipster cat tee shirt is making me cry happy tears, there really is an infinity of cat tee shirts.
Next season how about mixing it up with coffee, cocoa and ice cream club, plus baking contests.

  13. Very exciting! Congrats on another season in the history books! Are you all going to Disneyland now? 🙂 Great family you have there Joe. Looks like you all have such great taste in food and drink. What with cat shirts, funny socks, whisky club, suit day, cookie club, special pastries, bring your dogs to work day, how do you get any work done? What will you think of next?
