Today, we were back in The Hammer for some interior run and gun…

February 10, 2016: Dark Matter Behind The Scenes!

This morning, I took no chances, opting for not two, not three, not four, not five, but SIX layers of clothing.  I felt like Ralphie’s little brother from A Christmas Story.

I left my place for Hamilton at 6:15 a.m.  The drive over was…what’s the word?…Oh, yeah.  Harrowing.  Rain, snow, and long stretches of sporadically lit highway.

The location was, I believe, a former serial killer hangout.  Could be wrong.  But probably not.

  1. You’re posting early today! Hope you’re inside somewhere nice and warm now.

Can’t wait to see why Nyx and Two are up to!

  2. The crew needs a new dance routine to keep them warm on cold location shoots, something to rival last year’s moves!

    #GoGirlPower 👍

Former serial killer hangout – extreme mood-setting, then?

Official Episode 3 title…..roll on next blog entry…..

And speaking of official, when will the new cast members be announced?

  3. Despite the freezing temperatures and crappy weather, everyone appears to be in good spirits – which is nice.
Interesting picture of the ‘train’ operators setting up the tracks …. I do hope they get out of the way before it comes!
Thank you so much for sharing …. 😁

    But Joe…

… you are a rascal and a cad, Sir!
‘BTW…. title announcement for another blog’….. Hah! … And, you’re never going to tell us who play the new characters are you?
Really, it’s just sooo unfair! 😒

  4. Joe! What are you going to do when it actually gets cold! 🙂 I think it showed it was -7C in TO today, that’s not that bad! Oh, just FYI, it was +15C in Vancouver yesterday. And sunny. 🙁

  5. It’s 24F here with snow flurries. Suddenly I don’t feel as cold. As always, thanks for all the pics! Feeling slightly sorry for the guys on the Raza, Two & Nyx are gonna bring a new level to girl power! Nice to see One on set, he’s been missed!

  6. I have to say that 6 layers is a little bit much; we’ve lived in Anchorage long enough that short sleeves and a wind breaker is standard clothing until it gets below 20°F.

I mentioned our terriers in my last post. We have two West Highland White Terriers (Westies), a Cairn (the same breed as Toto in the Wizard of Oz) and and a Scottie/Cairn mix. These boys were all rescued in Oklahoma before we transferred back to Alaska.

I look forward hearing more about season 2 of Dark Matter & hope that you all stay warm while filming…
By the way, I’d love to share pictures of our boys, but I’m not sure how to do that here.

  7. Did you see David Hewlett’s tweet this morning? iphone showing overheat temperature warning. Says it needs to “cool down”. I’m out with dog & It’s -26 with the windchill. It’s mocking me! Funny and now I know that Toronto is too cold for me!

Do you have an electric blanket or a warm spouse Ganymede? 52F is not sleeping weather!!!! 😯

Mr. M.: The crew has portable heaters though, right?

  8. @ceresis64 New dance moves to keep the DM crew warm: The Dark Matter Plasma Slide, the Funky Robot, the Space Samurai Shuffle and Damaged Stasis Pod Watusi.

Nyx and Two look very X-Files, beware of mole people and were-men. Yeah it’s face numbing cold out, the roads are perma frosted and they ran out of chili at the café. I feel I should have stayed home from work tucked up with cocoa and BBC’s War & Peace.

  9. It was 87F yesterday in Tucson were I am for a few months. Only 81F today. They need a desert scene/planet instead of cold places. 🙂
