With our second walk-thru of the new sets (at the new stage) scheduled for this Tuesday, I thought it might be nice to show you all what the Art Department and Construction have been working on for our season 2 opener. Structures, shapes, textures and details – it’s all coming along nicely. More than anything, I want you all to compare these early stages of the various builds with what you’ll eventually see onscreen in, oh, about seven months from now…
Well, this one’s a tight squeeze. Any guesses as to what we’re looking at?
We stress the importance of ceilings and floors – but check out the wall details.
As work progresses, more detail will be added in the way of paints, textural elements and lights.
Future walls for another section of the facility.
Sliding doors are of course, de rigeur.
The aim is to create varied corridor looks. It’s a BIG place.
Ajax’s cell-to-be. All the conveniences…
It’s the little touches that lend it that sense of realism.
We’re building a two-level structure that will be cast and crew accessible. Pretty damn amazing.
Your home away from home – for the duration of your sentence.
The view out your swanky room. This too will change.
So far, so amazing. Production Designer Ian Brock, his team, and the Dark Matter construction department never fail to impress.
Fabulous – the concepts and the construction.
7 months eh? aarrrgghh…
WE are very much in prison ourselves. A sentence of at least 7 months.
not nice.
Yay! set building! ~Its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas~ xo
GO! DM Design & Production teams!
I imagine some of those panels will be painted in bluescreen and/or greenscreen shade to assist with any potential CGI..? Looks FABULOUS!!!! Wish I could work/play there…… 😉
It all looks amazing already, and as I remember what the sets last season looked like year at this point compared to what they looked like on-screen, it looks like we’re in for a real treat come June.
#1: Decontamination chamber? Communal showers? Klingon-style gauntlet?
Well, this one’s a tight squeeze. Any guesses as to what we’re looking at?
prison cell. probably the “luxury suite.”
“So far, so amazing.”
You got that right!
Mr. Joseph….
Thank you very much for sharing all of the BTS images and information
from the Dark Matter Season Two production.
I find it all to be very interesting and highly intriguing.
I am really looking forward to being able to watch the upcoming
Season Two episodes.
New sets!….new characters!…new season!
Now when is that air date going to be announced?!?
(..I guess that is all for Syfy to decide and announce.)
BTW…any word or info in the mixes regarding a possible early renewal for Season Three?
Narrow passageways almost always lead to traps where the bad guys await the good guys. Or, it could just be another hiding place for #5. 😉
Ooooo, this is sooo much fun! 😃
I love watching the sets come together. Thanks, Joe!
This is so fascinating. Thanks for providing a window we can peek through.
You have a new stage?, in the same giant building? I can’t imagine how much space you would need for a production! Love the angles on the structures, so spacey, thanks for sharing!
Amazing sets so far Joe. Thanks for sharing.
I only can say it this way Joe. Dark Matter is Awesome waiting hard for season 2,3,4,5,6,…….:)
