A mere 125+ of you have taken the ultimate Personality Quiz I uploaded yesterday (March 1, 2014: Yet another personality quiz!).  Those of you have taken the time can attest to the fact that the results are uncannily accurate.  Nay, eerily so!  The results so far…

Screen Shot 2014-03-02 at 6.16.09 PM

Roughly one third of those who took the quiz ended up with Mario Batali’s Apron.  No surprise there.

Another third split their results three ways, ending up as either Crab Nebula, Mince Pie or, of course, Christmas Ornament.

These results are followed by a respectable scattering of Sloe Gin, Dalek, Omega 3 Fish Oil, and The Declaration of Independence.

As for the rest, it’s a mixed albeit telling bag made up of: Toilet Paper Roll, Old Lottery Ticket, George Clooney in that movie where he’s chasing down the terrorists, Turnip, Maureen’s Office Chair, Pyjama Bottoms, and MacBeth.  Surprisingly, not a Mazda Sonata or Bookmark in the bunch!

What are the rest of you waiting for?  Afraid the results will hit a little too close to him?

A reminder for you to finish up reading our February Book of the Month Club selection, Terms of Enlistment by Marko Kloos.  Gather your thoughts for tomorrow’s discussion!

On the subjects of books, my sister brought this to my attention: 22 Books You Should Read Now, Based On Your Childhood Favorites.  Enjoyed the Harry Potter series?  Apparently Lev Grossman’s The Magicians is the book for you.  Fond memories of The Phantom Tollbooth?   Then check out Neil Gaiman’s Stardust.  I’m not sure if Neuromancer is the most appropriate adult follow-up to Ender’s Game, or The Orphan Master’s Son the logical successor to Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, but there are some interesting suggestions in the mix.  Thoughts?

  1. Well, I’m glad that my “Mince Pie” result is shared by so many. Safety in numbers and all that. Or is it misery loves company? Oh well, whatever.

No “Terms of Enlistment” for me, sadly, Amazon wasn’t able to deliver in time. I already have next month’s though, so I’ll get a head start on that one!

By what criteria are they basing those book recommendations? I loved The Phantom Tollbooth, so maybe I’ll check out “Stardust”.

Is it just me, or is Beth being a total PITA on The Walking Dead tonight?

  2. Personality quiz graphics /links didn’t show up on my I-devices. Is it programmed in Flash?

  3. today, I was able to finish that quiz.
It is food related – Mario Batali’s apron…ok.

  4. POSSIBLE DUPLICATE POST

The quiz link didn’t appear on either of my I-devices, so we’ll never know whether I’m a turnip or MacBeth.

  5. Those results are awesome, fantastic, remarkable. But, what does it mean??!! 😡

  6. The results mean nothing, folks. They are just for fun. With a 20 question quiz at 4 possible options for each question, there are 4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4x4 or 4 to the 20th power possible different outcomes. Especially true for a fun, made-up quiz such as this one. So the 20 or so outcomes (apron, ornament, etc.) that are listed are not nearly enough to represent the possibilities. Now, if we all were to take the Meyers-Briggs personality indicator test, which has questions designed to slot you in 4 different categories, and 2 slots within each category, then the results would mean something. See the book “Please Understand Me” by Kiersey for more info. But that’s not the point. I think the point was to have some fun with something Joe created. And to see how many people would actually go take the test.

I have not taken the time to add up all the people who introduced themselves over the past several days (and hello to everyone, btw!), but I don’t think it was 125. So, with some additional anonymity provided by the online quiz, we now have a rough gauge of how many people are willing to actively participate in this blog. And there will always be many, many more who read but choose not to participate. It’s got to feel pretty darn good and validating to have that many people enjoy your past work and current blogging so much that they are willing to go on this ride with you.

Of course, this is all just speculation on my part. But my mind loves to try to find patterns and reason and meaning in things, and this is the path down which it took me. I could be way off base. And to anyone who knows/cares, I’m an INTJ in Meyers-Briggs land.

  7. Yikes! I can’t believe how far behind I got on the blog. Sending positive vibes to sweet Jelly. Keeping fingers crossed that she’ll be ok.

I’m loving Akemi’s review of Atlantis. I dearly love that show, and now have an entirely new way of seeing it 🙂

A belated intro, I’m Patty and live in Glendale, California. Pet peeve is traffic. Wasting too much of my life looking at brakes lights.

  8. I tried to ‘reset’ the test by doing it as Pendergast (who got Crab Nebula), then – after looking up the word ‘prolix’ ( 😛 😛 😛 ) – I retook the test, changing a few answers to make it as accurate as I could…and I still came up with Declaration of Independence. I must say that this is one of the most consistent quizzes I’ve ever taken (usually just changing an answer or two will give a different answer – this one isn’t so easy to deceive).

  9. Who else is watching “Walking Dead”? It was so interesting tonight that it went by too fast. It seemed as if I just turned it on and 15 minutes later, it was over. Finally, Darrel has feelings!

  10. well I too got Mince Pie, even though I don’t care for it taste wise. I must admit I did cheat and look up the Japanese so would answer more intelligently. Based upon liking the Harry Potter books, I’m taking the above suggestion and have requested The Magicians from my local library. I’ve been wondering how Miss Jelly is doing. Are results from the biopsy expected soon? All of her aunts and uncles out here on the net are waiting for news. I am also anxious to hear your thoughts on the Oscars. Was no surprise Gravity won the tech awards. 12 Year a Slave was one of two I had thought had the best chance for best picture, and Matthew McConaughey was not a surprise to me either.

    Hope everyone else is well.

  11. @baterista9: The quiz itself isn’t in Flash, just the thing you need to click on to get to the quiz. Try this: https://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/story.php?title=NjUwNzIy

I think I only read one of those books when I was a kid. Of course, many of those “kids” books were published well after I was a kid! 🙁

Interesting to see Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret in the list. A friend of mine has just announced that she’s doing the cover illustrations for the re-release of several of Judy Blume’s books!

  12. I got Omega 3 Fish Oil! This makes sense since I have been taking a TON of that stuff daily for about a year now. Also I was swimming with the manatees yesterday. (no, really!) So that affected my results too, I’m sure.

Right now I’m headed to the airport to get my new puppy!!! So exciting! Well she’s 11 but they’re all puppies to me. Her flight from California was delayed. Hopefully Foxy is doing alright.

Someone really needs to invent that instant transport already. Then pets won’t have to fly as cargo.

  13. mince pie? not sure if that is good or bad. bracing for the latest round of snow and ice, but if I don’t lose power, should be good to go for the book review tonight.

  14. I’ve had Jeremy and Allie take the quiz. They both got crab nebula. This is very scary. It’s even more accurate than I thought. I’ll have Erin take it to see what she gets.

  15. @JimFromJersey:

I’ll trade you my “Toilet Paper Roll” for your “Starship Enterprise”. Hmmm…I might need to sweeten the pot a little. How about I throw in the title of “Pizza-maker Extraordinaire”? 😀

  16. Welp.. Erin just completed the quiz. She, too, got Omega 3 Fish Oil. That means she’s like me, Allie is like Jeremy. *mind blown*

@JimFromJersey Erin is extremely jealous of your Starship Enterprise result. She wished she had gotten that or Dalek. Congrats. You’ve just made my 12 year old very jealous. 😉 (and me too)

I should have video taped Erin taking this. It was too funny. I’m shocked that she got the same result as I did because she had different answers than me! I think there is magic involved!

  17. @ Das – 😆 That’s pretty close. But I wasn’t crying that much… 😉
